Brew Bot or Brewbot?
Sometimes it is just a matter of spelling or pronunciation. But whether you spell it as two words Brew Bot or a single word Brewbot you will still achieve the same remarkable end result – the Tassimo Coffee Maker.
Sometimes better called a single serve beverage machine the Tassimo Coffee Maker became widely known when the Tassimo Brewbot robot sprang to life on your television screen in an advertising campaign in a late 2010.

Ending with the catch line “The Tassimo Brewbot – Seven Different Beverages – One Smart Little Bot” it was widely talked about because of its lifelike representation.
Some folk thought that they would likely get a small robot that did just that – brewed and delivered one of seven selected beverage. The reality is a little different to that because while the Tassimo Brewbot is clever it is not clever enough to move around.
Even though it is good looking and makes a better than average cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate the Brewbot should remain firmly seated on your kitchen bench. Or where ever else you choose to place it. (If it has moved when you come home and no one else has been around you best check out that commercial again!!)
What exactly is this Brewbot?
As noted above Bosch, the manufacturers, describe it as a single serve beverage machine. And this is no doubt done to distinguish it from a number of others single serve COFFEE machines that are in the market.
Single serve means that you can make a cup of your favorite beverage one cup at a time. So, not a whole pot of coffee or tea, just enough to fill your cup or mug as you choose. And there is the added advantage that you can make the first say a cup of tea and then immediately afterwards a mug of coffee. All with no mess and normally in under a minute per cup. What could be better than that?
Clever Technology
Apart from its obvious good looks the Tassimo Brewbot also has some rather smart bar code reading technology. And this is the key to it being able to make seven different beverages. For each cup the beverage ingredients are contained in an individual Tassimo T Disc or ‘pod’ that is placed face down in the holder in the top of the unit.
The T disc has a bar code on it which the Brewbot reads to tell what type of drink is being made. This information also sets other factors such as brew time, water quantity, water temperature and any special requirements such as special second T disc for frothing or creaming.
A Convenient Solution
Until the advent of single serve machines such as the
Tassimo Brewbot the options for preparing a single cup of your favorite drink were there but a bit messy.
For tea you have teabags – but they can drip and are a bit of a fiddle.
Coffee – you could use the long standing instant coffee option a spoon at a time. Certainly quick but not as good as freshly brewed. Alternatively you could have a coffee pot on the stove – but its shelf life is limited. After it has stewed for a couple of hours it turns bitter and looses its fresh brewed taste too.
And for hot chocolate you generally need to heat milk to get the best result. Hot chocolate made on water just does not make the grade.
Forget All That
The Tassimo Brewbot single serve beverage machine does away with all of that in one smart unit. Short of having your own barrista in the kitchen you can make a more than acceptable cup of coffee, one cup at a time, all day every day. Just select your desired Tassimo T Disc, pop it in the holder, close the lid and press the Start. (Just make sure you have the correct cup or mug under the drink outlet spout!!)
And there you have it – a freshly brewed drink of your choice coffee or tea or a hot chocolate.
