Although the Tassimo Coffee Maker has been designed to require minimal maintenance like all appliances it does need some regular looking after if you want to keep it in good working order. And this means regular TLC (tender loving care) and looking out for any small problems that might turn up from time to time. Because looking after any appliance not only ensures that it performs correctly it will normally extend it’s useful life as well.
Now I am sure that you have all seen instances where an appliance has been mistreated and as a result has failed long before it should have. Don’t let this happen to your Tassimo Coffee Maker.
And there is another more really good reason for taking care of an appliance like a coffee machine – taste! And nothing could be more important than maintaining the quality of the water when making a good cup of coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate) And the Tassimo single serve machine makes all of these beverages with ease.
Now both cleaning and descaling are mentioned in the Tassimo instruction manual. This article deals with cleaning. Descaling is a separate operation that should be done from time to time depending on your water quality.
So to keep your Tassimo Coffee Maker in good day to day working order there are a number of simple cleaning requirements. And they are as follows:
Safety Should Be Your First Priority
Ensure that the coffee maker is disconnected from mains power by unplugging the lead the wall power point. Never immerse the Tassimo in water or use any form of assisted cleaning like a steam cleaner or scouring pads. And if it has just been used make wait a while for it to cool. Even after a wait you still need to be sure not to contact any potentially hot components such as the piercing unit.
Start Cleaning Now
The barcode scanner needs to be frequently cleaned using a soft damp cloth to ensure that the reader can correctly scan the T Disc barcodes.
Next wipe down the outside of the Tassimo coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth
Hand rinse the water tank, the water tank lid and the filter cartridge holder for a machine that has a water filter. Never put these items in the dishwasher – they just will not survive!
But some components will survive the dishwasher are they are the cup stand, the T disc holder, the piercing unit and the drink outlet. However there is nothing wrong with giving them a thorough hand wash if you prefer not to wait for a dishwasher cycle to complete.
As well as the cleaning steps just outlined Bosch also recommend that for longer drink runs the piercing unit may need a quick hand clean under a running tap once you have prepared a number of individual cups.
Use The Service Disc Regularly
And lastly Bosch recommend that you use the Tassimo Service T Disc on a regular basis to keep the machine in top condition. And should you make a milky or hot chocolate drink Bosch recommend using the Service T Disc before making another drink.
For reference the Service T Disc is carried in a storage compartment behind the water tank on the Tassimo machine. (This is the best place to kept as you will be sure to find it when it is needed.)
Cleaning is Not Descaling
Finally just for the record here it is important to note that descaling is a separate operation and will be dealt with in another article.
By cleaning your Tassimo Coffee Maker regularly it should give you valuable service for many years, one delicious cup at time.
