Tassimo Coffee Maker

<James with Coffee Cup
Welcome to the Tassimo Coffee Maker Site – I’m James and have been an avid coffee drinker for most of my life – and that it almost too long to recall!!
First let me say that I am glad that you were able to find the Tassimo Coffee Maker site. Because my aim is to give you the insight and facts you need to understand this clever single cup brewing machine.

While coffee is certainly my regular and preferred drink I am also occasionally partial to other easy to prepare hot drinks. And that is where this magic little brewing machine comes in. It is not just a coffee machine it really is a hot beverage system. Your Tassimo Coffee Maker not only provides a variety of freshly prepared coffee shop style coffees – one cup at a time – at the touch of a button. You can also select one of a number of coffees to suit your own particular taste. As well as that it can prepare a cappuccino or a latte macchiato to boot!!

But if you are not a coffee drinker you can still get your variety of quality teas and hot chocolate from the same Bosch Tassimo Coffee Maker

And while it may sound as though it is all positive there are some things to watch out for. So we will cover both the pluses and minuses and point you in the right direction to select the best Tassimo Coffee Maker for yourself.

What is a Tassimo Coffee Maker?
A good definition of this clever unit is that it is a Single Serve Beverage machine rather than a coffee machine. There are a number of similar machines on the market such as Keurig, Senseo, Krups, Breville and Hamilton Beach. But many of them are more specifically aimed at the coffee drinker. So they would be better described as single serve coffee machines rather than a Single Serve Beverage Machine.

But the Tassimo is different because not only can it serve coffee it can also make tea and hot chocolate. And the company notes that secret lies in their T-Disc’s which provide the correct ingredient mix, be it coffee, tea or say chocolate. But as well as the ingredients in the T-Disc the Tassimo Coffee Maker also has an Intelligent bar code reading technology which deciphers the information such as the temperature and time needed to prepare your perfect beverage.

So together you have a clever unit that will give you a perfect single brew every time without the ‘mess’ and associated fuss often experienced with the normal household coffee machine.

Tassimo Makes and Models
When it first came on the market several years ago the
Tassimo Coffee Maker
took the scene by storm. The cute little advertising robot intrigued folk encouraging them to find out more. Early models were manufactured by Braun but today by far the more preferred unit is the Bosch Tassimo. This has been well received by those using it. There are currently three models that appear to be the most readily available – the T20, T45 and T65 which essentially are base, mid-range and top-range models. There is also a T10 which while still available seems to be less often found.

Color range and finish for the Bosch Tassimo  includes Black, Anthracite, White, Red and Metallic. For the Bosch T20 model the colors are limited to Black and White.

Special Features of the Tassimo Coffee Maker
One rather unique feature of the Tassimo Coffee Maker is its ability to prepare different beverages one after the other. According to the manufacturer this is because the Tassimo Brew Bot uses a unique barcode on each Tassimo T-Disc which the machine reads to verify the temperature, amount of water, and brewing time for the beverage. This ensures the perfect cup every time you brew. To find out more about these features check out my Tassimo T-Disc details.

And its instantaneous hot water at the right temperature is something that many users find especially satisfying. Other brewing systems take up to a minute or more to warm up. Whereas the Tassimo Brew Bot produces hot water immediately because of its unique barcode identification for each beverage.

Alternative Comment on the Tassimo Coffee Maker
Some users have not been so satisfied with their Tassimo with observations that sometimes there are grounds in their coffee or the unit leaked. Others feel that the coffee produced is not quite up to the standard of a newly prepared cup using freshly ground coffee. Then there are a few who found that the window used to read the T-Disc barcode became cloudy making it difficult for the machine to read the code. However the disappointed ones appear to be in the minority with most commentary being positive.

Why Buy a Tassimo Coffee Maker
One of the best reasons for buying a Tassimo Coffee Maker, apart from the fact that it actually makes really good beverages, is that it unique amongst the single serve machines. Whereas other machines will brew your coffee and perhaps your tea, the Tassimo Coffee Maker makes seven different beverages in individual operations. Then there is the convenience of being able to quickly make a single cup of your favorite beverage and not make a whole pot. Finally it is manufactured by Bosch a well regarded German manufacturer of appliances.

Because of its popularity the Tassimo Coffee Maker can be purchased a number of ways. Amazon has a number of Tassimo Coffee Maker models available on-line. Some larger retail appliances stores such as Sears, Home Outfitters, The Bay and Future Shop also carry them. And the best way to obtain one of these clever coffee makers is from a reputable on-line supplier who has an established business such as Amazon. Another such firm is Coffee For Less who have offered a wide range of coffees, coffee machines and coffee accessories such as T-Discs

Tassimo Coffee Maker Descaling

by CTServices on November 29, 2011

Descaling Versus Cleaning
Any appliance that heats water to near or above boiling point can suffer from a build up of scale. This is especially true in areas that have ‘hard’ water – which essentially means that there are a lot of dissolved minerals in the water. And your soap will not lather!! (Detergent still works)

For an appliance like a Tassimo Coffee Maker scale may be an issue and needs to be dealt with as a separate maintenance procedure. It is different and a little more involved than cleaning.

Cleaning deals mainly with the exterior of the Tassimo as well as the removal of any internal residue left over from the beverage making process. It has nothing to do with descaling which is an entirely separate but equally important exercise.

Cleaning Your Tassimo Coffee Maker

by CTServices on November 21, 2011

Although the Tassimo Coffee Maker has been designed to require minimal maintenance like all appliances it does need some regular looking after if you want to keep it in good working order. And this means regular TLC (tender loving care) and looking out for any small problems that might turn up from time to time. Because looking after any appliance not only ensures that it performs correctly it will normally extend it’s useful life as well.

Now I am sure that you have all seen instances where an appliance has been mistreated and as a result has failed long before it should have. Don’t let this happen to your Tassimo Coffee Maker.

Taste Tells
And there is another more really good reason for taking care of an appliance like a coffee machine – taste! And nothing could be more important than maintaining the quality of the water when making a good cup of coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate) And the Tassimo single serve machine makes all of these beverages with ease.

Now both cleaning and descaling are mentioned in the Tassimo instruction manual. This article deals with cleaning. Descaling is a separate operation that should be done from time to time depending on your water quality.

Tassimo Brewbot

by CTServices on November 6, 2011

Brew Bot or Brewbot?
Sometimes it is just a matter of spelling or pronunciation. But whether you spell it as two words Brew Bot or a single word Brewbot you will still achieve the same remarkable end result – the Tassimo Coffee Maker.

Sometimes better called a single serve beverage machine the Tassimo Coffee Maker became widely known when the Tassimo Brewbot robot sprang to life on your television screen in an advertising campaign in a late 2010.
Tassimo Suprema Hot Beverage Machine by Bosch
Ending with the catch line “The Tassimo Brewbot – Seven Different Beverages – One Smart Little Bot” it was widely talked about because of its lifelike representation.

Some folk thought that they would likely get a small robot that did just that – brewed and delivered one of seven selected beverage. The reality is a little different to that because while the Tassimo Brewbot is clever it is not clever enough to move around.

Even though it is good looking and makes a better than average cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate the Brewbot should remain firmly seated on your kitchen bench. Or where ever else you choose to place it. (If it has moved when you come home and no one else has been around you best check out that commercial again!!)

Tassimo T Discs – Coffee Beans Plus

by CTServices on October 22, 2011

It may take some believing but the heart of that delicious cup of coffee you enjoy every day is just one small coffee bean. It’s called a bean and that is exactly what it is. But more accurately it is the seed or kernel of the coffee cherry which obviously grows on a coffee shrub or small tree.
Coffee Beans in Sack
So why all the fuss? There are plenty of other examples of tree grown items that we either eat or process into food or beverages.

A Really Popular Beverage
Well for one thing coffee is probably the most popular brewed beverage there is. Then there is the fact that it is the second most commonly traded commodity in the world – second only to crude oil in monetary terms. So it really must have something going for it. And the coffee that is shipped around the world is generally ‘green’ – that is it has not been roasted (more of roasting to come).

The Main Characters – Arabica and Robusta
There are two main species of the plant used to commercially produce coffee beans. Arabica which is the more highly regarded plant and accounts for about 75% of world coffee production. And Robusta which has significantly more caffeine (up to 50% more)
but is less palatable although it generally has more ‘body’

But growing the coffee berry is only part of the story. Once the berry has ripened and been picked the red fleshy part has to be removed and the bean dried ready to ship. Now there are plenty of information sources available if you want the real detail but even when shipped the story does not end.

Tassimo Coffee Maker T65 Review

by CTServices on September 16, 2011

The top models Tassimo Coffee Maker are the T65 and Suprema. This coffee maker is the third in the Bosch Tassimo family.

All The Features You Would Expect
Like the other two Bosch single serve beverage machines – the T20 and the T45 – the Bosch T65 has all of their features plus more, which is what you would expect from this quality appliance manufacturer.

There is an on/off switch ideally placed on the front of the unit together with a simple to follow Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) display. In Canada this is multilingual. And a nice touch is the Light Emitting Diode (LED) in the dispenser bay so that your cup is illuminated.

In addition to these physical features the T65 Tassimo Coffee Maker provides the ability to vary both the strength and quantity of your beverage. And when you buy the T65 you receive a water filter as well which is best used – it helps protect your Tassimo. It even warns you when the filter is due to be changed. Read More

Tassimo Coffee Maker T45 Review

by CTServices on September 7, 2011

The second in the Tassimo Coffee Maker family is the Tassimo T45. This is the mid-range unit – something above the T20 but not quite up to the top of the range T65 coffee maker.

Like the T20 the Tassimo Coffee Maker T45 has all the key features of the range and can make all seven beverages without any problems. Where it starts to differ from its smaller relation is in size and it ability to do things just that little bit better with a few more features.

It has an illuminated LCD and by following the brewing instructions your single cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea is just a minute or so away.

One interesting feature is the standby mode of the unit. Once it has brewed you a cup of your favorite beverage it reverts to standby to conserve power. While this may seem to be a good idea, and it is if you use the unit a lot, if you only brew a morning and evening cup then the advantage is probably lost. Better to switch your unit off and accept the slight delay making your next cup from a cooler water reservoir. Read More

Tassimo Coffee Maker T20 Review

by CTServices on September 5, 2011

Thinking of buying a Tassimo Coffee Maker? Then you need to ensure that you make the best selection. The Tassimo Coffee Maker has been around for some time so history indicates that there are a several models and a couple of manufacturers. While Braun was an earlier manufacturer it is now exclusively made by Bosch. And it appears from most comments that Bosch is the preferable option. You will see that both Bosch and the TAS20 both figure well in the quotes on various sites.

This quote on Amazon from C. Irish (Placerville, CA) is similar to a number of them:

The Tassimo T20 Single Serve Coffee Brewer is a wonder!! Dazzle someone by serving them their very own coffee, latte, tea, or hot chocolate in seconds. This single cup coffee maker would make a great gift for a gourmet coffee lover

So while some Braun Tassimo Coffee Makers are still around Bosch units are obviously more readily available and preferred.

by CTServices on September 1, 2011

Tassimo T Discs UprightTassimo T Discs are the ‘secret’ component of the successful Tassimo single serve beverage system.
